When Times Are Tough
Two weeks ago, a student shared to the class, "My cancer is back." It was a sad moment for all of us and we gave hugs and listened to what was going on. Over the next week and 1/2, the student came to class and participated fully despite her distractions. The Durango Area Association of Realtors is offering scholarships that can be used at Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts. They have five $1,200.00 awards for 2009 graduates of area high schools or GED programs.Selection criteria is 3.0 GPA and need. Today Ryan and I co-taught Swedish Massage. The class was about blending energy work with massage. We decided not to really teach much in terms of energy work technique (the 200-hour Heartworks Approach Program does a lot of that), but to instead focus on the quality of bring presence, attention, and awareness to the session. It was a wonderful day in the classroom and I felt incredibly grateful

Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts, Inc. was founded in 2001 in order to combine excellence in academics with opportunities for self exploration, healing, and the development of compassion and mindfulness. Each year, RMIHA offers only one to two sessions, ensuring the highest quality possible for your educational experience. Durango is a vibrant community in southwest Colorado. It has a vital alternative/holistic health community, plenty of job opportunities and social and recreational activities for students. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, Durango offers a true Rocky Mountain experience--there's tons of hiking, climbing, mountain biking, skiing, rafting and kayaking in our backyard. Area attractions include Durango Mountain Ski Resort, the Animas River, Mesa Verde National Park, and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
